Tutorial: C++ Hello World
In this tutorial you will learn how to make a simple Hello World application. The application will run in the terminal; it will ask for the users name, once they enter their name and hit enter, it will spit it back out at them. Here’s how we do it.
Whar? No post?
Well guys, as you may or may not have noticed I haven’t posted in a while so I thought I would post a quick section on what’s happening/is going to happen.
Firstly PublicWebServer was sold on several days ago and since then it has been closed by the new owner. A shame really as the business was due to kick off soon with just that little extra work that I didn’t have time to put in unfortunately.
Secondly I have done several freelancing projects and taken on extra hours at work in order to try and raise some extra money for projects around my room, including Cantarax which is still going strong and a new 20″ LCD monitor to go along side my current one (As long as I can convince my step dad to allow me to have one running!). This has meant that I have been very busy and with PublicWebServer mucking this site up I haven’t got around to getting anything up. Although we are now proudly hosted by 33i who seem to be most reliable with their hosting.
I am planning on developing several of my own sites in the near future, starting with Crazyshare, an online file storage system which will start as a simple upload system and will hopefully develop into a system for backing up your PC and storing files. All for free!
I would also like to add that several of my domains are currently for sale. If you are genuinely interested and would like to have a list of them then please feel free to E-Mail me on dave@gibit.net and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Post again soon, I promise!
Dave,
We are going through changes
Everything is changing at the moment.
Firstly, this is now an open blog meaning anyone can post comments even if they arent registered. I have enabled this option in the hope that the blog will gain more of a community too it than what is here now.
Publicwebserver is changing.
http://www.publicwebserver.net has a week to become a more professional business and a month to get 5 customers. If you feel you want to join the team then feel free to email me at dave@publicwebserver.net and remember there are discounts for blog subscribers so just ask and I will get you a coupon code!
I“m sorry for any gramatical or spelling errors in this post as I am actually typing it from my N800 which now sports a styleish IGO Stowaway keyboard, yet I am still getting used to it!
Over and out untill the upcoming PHP tutorial is finsihed so check back in a couple of days for part one!
Dave,
Happy Birthday!
My Great Nan, Henrietta Theodore, turned 108 today.
It’s amazing when you think about it, in todays world where so many lives are being ended prematurely I am proud to say I know some one that has prevailed. So happy birthday gran and i hope there are many more to follow.
For someone who is 108 and say she is quite impressive, she’s an active lady (Obviously not active like exercising etc), she is a bit hard of hearing and has lost the use of one eye but other than that amazing for someone so old.
On the way home from Wellington I thought about the post and began thinking of the different things that she has seen and done over the rapidly changing years she is proud to call her life.
Most obvious in my mind is that she has seen and lived through not one but two world wars. Quite amazing that what we learn about in History is her childhood memories, right from the assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand through too the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler.
She has also seen the invention of the things that we take for granted today, wide spread use of electricity,Ā cars, television in both black andĀ white and colourĀ and of course, the rise of the internet in general!
Quite a lot compared to the sixteen years I have lived myself,
Then there’s what she has seen…
Today’s culture, killing for simple things like drugs or money, A new repression and a failing government.
think about it guys, what is the world coming too. It didn’t do her any harm living in a reasonable society so what about us.
Hope for some feedback on this,
Dave,
Cantarax
Cantarax is the first mini server I have set up.
Bought from eBay for a mere £150 it contains an Epia 10000EG mother board with 1GB of DDR ram and a 1GHZ processor.
It is currently being ran as a Linux box under the bed (Backtrack 3) for torrenting, war games and folding at home projects.
Eventually this system is likely to become the core of Yantoa, the enhanced Linux wireless box i mentioned earlier, although for the moment I don’t have the parts for it.
Mentioning the Janus wireless project I am still in need of a case, a PCI too 2xpci riser cards, the MiniPCI adapters and the Atheros wireless chips.
The last two items cost $70 and $20 each so if you want to spare a bit of loose change for this growing project then please use the donate button in one of the previous posts.
Wow… What a great response
It appears that my project is a big hit with quite a few people.
Although, as you can see, we haven’t had any donations we have have had a huge influx of old parts.
I have listed what we have got and what we need below so that you as a community can help me in locating such parts.
I hope some of you will get involved and was wondering if any of you wanted to contact me to get in on the team?
Just leave a comment if you do.

My own Janus.
In 2006 Kyle Williams created the Janus Project. The Janus project is a wireless penetration device based in a Pelican box with a 17″ Acer LCD screen and a Epia EX 10000EG Fanless system with 20GB HDD.
I plan to remake this project with newer technology to compliment the launch of Nanomod, the DIY project database.
Changes to my life
I’ve decided to try a new regime for getting my work done over the next three months and thought I would list the details here incase anyone else is interested.
I was inspired to do this after stumbling upon http://www.matthewpaulmoore.com and think the advice offerred in that small area is very good.
- Sort my room out, keep it clean and keep it tidy. this will allow good production without distractions.
- Keep MSN, Skype and IRC turned off until around 5 or 6 PM so that I am not hasseled with pointless intrusions.
- Only answer E-Mail that is important and isn’t going to end up making me lose track of what I was doing.
- Get a code bank setup so that I do not have to repeat tasks that I find I am doing several times.
- Sort my music library out so that I am not constantly skipping songs
- Plan my projects well on paper so that if I do getlost then I can get straight back too it.
- Only have one project at a time whether it be client or personal work.
With these points leading me development I believe that this is the opening to creating some extremelly good projects in the future.
If you are interested in me doing some freelance website development for you then please send me an E-Mail to dave@publicwebserver.net and we can get to know each other what you require better.
Review: Nokia N800 - An internet tablet
I got my Nokia N800 several months ago.
Overall i am very impressed with what I have got out of it and believe that it was well worth the £150 i payed for it. http://www.play.com.
The device itself boasts an impressive 1024 x 768 screen resolution making it perfect for viewing web pages though it’s inbuilt wireless access and Gecko engine based browser.
The onscreen keyboard, which can be blown up for finger use (See Image) is hard to get used to but I got there in the end and now find that I can easily speak to friends, send emails or write a blog post although I wouldn’t try to write anything long or important as a cobination of the screen and myself proves to bring some typogrphical errors once in a while.
It’s onboard sound system is perfect for listening to music, or at a push, listening to movies. There is a standard headphone jack on the right hand side of the device which will take any generic headphones with a small jack, like MP3’s or Walkman’s.
General goings on
Firstly I would like to say “hey, and thanks for your support!” to the new subscribers we have picked up. I hope you enjoy your time here.
